Haven Nursery School
Haven's aim is to provide a supportive and encouraging environment, where opportunities are offered to challenge and inspire children and adults through learning that is accessible, meaningful and fun.
The important years
Haven Nursery School opened in 1997 on the site of the former Bedenham Infants School. Since that time, the Centre has grown dramatically and is a vibrant, thriving venue for early years education, care and family services at the heart of the local community.
The local authority maintained nursery school provides 140 part-time places for children aged 3-4 in the ‘Hive’. In addition to the entitlement of 15 hours government funded early education for 3 year olds, parents have the option to purchase further childcare from 7.45 am – 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, 51 weeks a year.  See Ofsted Report January 2013
Full daycare provision for 0-3 year olds is provided in the ‘Nest’ – a nurturing and stimulating environment which is also open all year from 7.45 am – 6.00 pm. See Ofsted Report August 2015 . The Nest also provides free nursery places to eligible children as part of the ‘2 year old offer’
We are pleased to announce that we have recently been selected to become a National Teaching School. Teaching Schools take a leading role in recruiting and training new entrants to the profession, identifying leadership potential and providing support for other schools and early years settings. Haven is one of 33 nursery schools in England to be granted teaching school status. Introduced in 2011, Teaching Schools are all rated as “outstanding". They work with partner schools in an alliance to ensure high quality school-led initial teacher training and professional development opportunities for teachers and early years practitioners.

As a setting we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, further information about this can be found on the gov.uk website here: https://www.gov.uk/early-years-foundation-stage
