Lead Practitioner / Nursery Manager

Our continually graded outstanding nursery, have a vacancy for an inspiring and exceptionally talented Nursery Manager (for 1 year to cover maternity in the first instance), who can empower and excite our strong team of experienced practitioners and continue their tailored ongoing professional development within the Centre. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the ideal candidate.

Our belief is that children thrive when they are consistently happy and safe at school. Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we believe that every child can achieve. You will be based in our Daycare provision for 0-3 year olds. Experience in this age range is essential.

 

The Nursery Manager will be responsible for:

Further inspiring an already committed and enthusiastic team.
Overseeing the day-to-day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of our Daycare provision.
Continuing to develop the ethos of the nursery, enabling fascinations and creating a nurturing environment centered around children and families.
Recruiting new staff.
Maintaining high standards of care and education for children, aged 0-3 years at all times in accordance with statutory requirements/ Ofsted.
 
Skills and Experience:

It is mandatory the candidate holds a minimum of a level 3 relevant childcare qualification
Childcare experience: 4 years minimum (required)
Management experience (manager, deputy manager or room leader): 2 years (preferred)
Relevant safeguarding training and willingness to train to become a Designated Safeguarding Lead
Have a sound understanding of child development and how to scaffold learning
Excellent communication skills
Be able to manage workload and time effectively

The Centre is open from 7.45am – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.  Hours of work will be on a shift basis to cover these opening hours. The Centre closes for the period between Christmas Day and New Year.
 
This post is 37 hours per week, 52 weeks a year with a starting salary of £25,833 at a Hampshire County Council E grade as a Nursery Manager.  Initially fixed term for one year.
